I’m Devasted By Chelsea Exit – Tuchel

Former Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel has expressed sadness over his dismissal by the club where he “felt at home”.

The German coach was fired by Chelsea last week after a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League.

Tuchel led Chelsea to a Champions League title and Club World Cup glory, but his reign has now come to an end. The club had replaced him with Graham Potter, who was signed from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The tactician who had previously coached French giants, PSG, too to social media yesterday to express his gratitude to have had the honour to coach the club and his sadness that his stay has been cut short.

He said, “This is one of the most difficult statements I have ever had to write – and it is one which I hoped I would not need to do for many years. I am devastated that my time at Chelsea has come to an end.

“This is a club where I felt at home, both professionally and personally. Thank you so much to all the staff, the players and the supporters for making me feel very welcome from the start.

“The pride and joy I felt at helping the team to win the Champions League and the Club World Cup will stay with me forever. I am honoured to have been a part of this club’s history and the memories of the last 19 months will always have a special place in my heart.”

Tuchel’s sack came as a surprise to many as he was confirmed a few weeks ago that talks were on to extend his contract at the Stamford Bridge outfit.
