Recall that Enugu State primary school teachers had on 20th February 2024, organised a peaceful protest against the non-compliance of the state government to the payment of minimum wage to primary school teachers and other civil servants in the state. Notwithstanding the success of the demonstration, the leaders of the protest risk being sacked from their jobs. The query which was obtained by Daily Info, signed by the Acting Director of Admin, Mrs Evelyn Ugwu, accused them of forming illegal and parallel union not registered or known to fight the government, uttering defamatory words against the board and the State Government, engineering and sponsoring unrest in schools, threatening closure of schools, neglecting official duties without permission, and breaching the rules of communication in public service by addressing letters to higher authorities instead of following due process.

The query is to be submitted within fourty-eight (48) hours to the office of the executive chairman, Enugu State Universal Basic Education.
