Why Super Eagles Lost To Algeria – Iwobi

Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi has blamed the team’s 2-1 loss to Algeria in Tuesday night’s friendly on poor officiating by the referee, Mehrez Malki.

The Algerian team came from a goal down to beat the Super Eagles at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium, Oran.

The Eagles took the lead through Terem Moffi in the nine minutes after the Algerian defense switched off briefly.

The Nigerian side would have extended their lead by Ademola Lookman had a goal wrongly ruled out for offside in the first half.

The Desert Foxes drew level through a controversial penalty in the 40th minute, fired home by Manchester City winder, Riyad Mahrez.

During the later part of the second half, Youcef Atal scored the winning goal for the North African side.

Reacting to the result, Iwobi tweeted, “I Understand Refereeing Isn’t Easy At All & All Referees Should Be Treated With Respect… But Yesterday Was Surely Questionable Aha?

The Super Eagles are scheduled to play Portugal in their next friendly in Lisbon in October before the 2022 world cup in Qatar.
