Two US Military Helicopters Crash During Training, Scores Eared Dead

Several people are feared dead after a crash involving two United States army helicopters.

The Fort Campbell military base in Kentucky stated that crew members were flying two HH60 Blackhawk helicopters during a routine training mission before the crash.

The incident reportedly took place around 10pm US time on Wednesday.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash and the command said it is “currently focused on caring for the service members and their families”.

The number of people who were on board is still unclear at the time of filing this report.

The incident was confirmed by Kentucky governor, Andy Beshear, noting that loss of life is expected and that the state’s police and emergency management service were responding to the situation.

Beshear tweeted, “We’ve got some tough news out of Fort Campbell, with early reports of a helicopter crash and fatalities are expected. @kystatepolice, @KentuckyEM and local officials are responding.”

The governor called for prayers for all those affected by the incident while promising to share further information once available.
