Grief As 23-Year-Old Victim of Asake’s Concert Crush Stampede Dies

A 23-year-old female security guard, identified as Gabriella Hutchinson has died due to injuries sustained from the stampede that took place at the music concert organised by Nigerian singer, Asake in 02 Academy, Brixton, United Kingdom.

According to Daily Mail, the victim who worked as a contracted security personnel at the concert, passed away on Monday at the hospital, four days after the incident which took place on Thursday night.

She became the second victim to die after the incident, following the death of 33-year-old Rebecca Ikumelo on Saturday.

The Metropolitan Police said that a third woman, 21, who was being treated was in critical condition.

Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove, policing commander for Lambeth and Southwark said, “It is devastating news that a second person has lost their life following the events on Thursday.

“I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to Gabrielle’s family at this unimaginably difficult time.”

Recall that the concert which took place was canceled midway after fans, many of whom reportedly didn’t have tickers, tried gaining access into the venue by breaching the doors.

The police and other emergency service providers were called to the O2 Academy in Brixton at 9:35 pm following reports “that a large number of people were attempting to force entry to the venue.”

The stampede resulted in critical injury to four people while another four were also hospitalized.

Unfortunately, a mother-of-two, Ikumelo, passed away on Saturday from injuries at the crush.

Asake posted the sad development on his Twitter handle, expressing grief for the deceased and soliciting prayers for him.
