Davido, Falz, Zlatan, and other prominent figures joined a candlelight procession in Lagos to honor the late Mohbad, a former artist signed to Naira Marley’s Marlian Records.
The procession began at the Lekki Phase One Gate in Lagos, where fans and colleagues gathered at 5 p.m. Mohbad, who passed away at the age of 27 on September 12th, has sparked calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.The participants in the candlelight procession, dressed in white T-shirts, peacefully walked together, dancing and singing Mohbad’s songs while holding placards demanding justice for the artist. The procession eventually led to Muri Okunola Park, where a tribute concert commenced at 8 p.m., drawing a substantial crowd, primarily consisting of young people.
In response to calls for an investigation, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed the exhumation of Mohbad’s corpse for an autopsy and the arrest of the nurse who administered an injection to the singer before his death.
Notable figures such as Davido, Falz, Zlatan, and Dotun attended the tribute concert, paying their respects to the late artist. Davido expressed that he had flown into the country to participate in the event and pledged to keep Mohbad’s name alive.
Mohbad’s management expressed gratitude for the global outpouring of love and appreciation from fans and communities worldwide that have organized events in his honor. Peaceful protests demanding justice for Mohbad have emerged in various parts of Nigeria and even in international locations like Canada, the U.S., and the UK.
