An Abuja Appeal Court has discharged and acquitted Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, of terrorism charges.
This was disclosed by Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor in a tweet.
Kanu petitioned the Appellate court to challenge the terrorism charges leveled against him by the Federal Government.
The IPOB leader had challenged the order of Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court in Abuja, which held that Kanu had to answer seven out of the 15-count terrorism charge against him.
He asked the Appeal court to set aside the entire charges and free him. According to Kanu, the alleged offences were committed outside Nigeria.
