The Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has granted immediate suspension to King Boutua Aranka, the Ibedaowei of the Opokuma clan, a first-class traditional ruler.
The suspension was officially announced through a statement released by Mr. Doubara Atasi, the deputy governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media.The decision to suspend the monarch is attributed to allegations of falsehood and misrepresentation of the state’s chieftaincy laws.

In response, a seven-member committee has been formed to investigate the accusations against the king. During this period, King Boutua Aranka has been directed to refrain from performing any duties as the Ibedaowei of Opokuma clan or in his capacity as a traditional ruler.
The suspension will persist until the committee completes its inquiry, and the government subsequently lifts the suspension order.
