The Bauchi State House of Assembly has elected new leaders following the removal of the former Speaker and Deputy Speaker by the Court of Appeal.
Babayo Muhammad Akuyam from Hardawa Constituency was elected as the new Speaker, while Ahmed Abdullahi from Dass Constituency was elected as the new Deputy Speaker.

The elections were held unopposed on Wednesday morning. The Court of Appeal had previously sacked the former Speaker, Abubakar Suleiman, and ordered a rerun in 10 polling units. His deputy, Jamilu Barade, was also removed, with an order for a rerun in 9 polling units.
