The Senate Chief Whip, Orji Kalu, has lauded the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, for calling off its eight-month strike.
The Senator representing Abia North in a statement asked the Federal Government and ASUU to do all it takes to avoid future strikes.
Kalu commended the executive and legislative arms of government for sustained engagement with
the universities union.
He said that he had been in constant engagement with ASUU, being an advocate of good and affordable education for the masses.

He said, “Both parties must establish a common ground to avoid any strike in the future.”
The lawmaker noted that education remains a potent tool for development and must be prioritized by stakeholders.
Kalu while remarking that the government has financial challenges, charged the authorities to do their best to improve the quality of education.
