The Anambra State Police Command has said that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of US consulate staff and security personnel in the state.

This was disclosed by the Anambra State police commissioner, Echeng Echeng, on Thursday during a press briefing at the police headquarters.

Recall that unknown gunmen had on Thursday attacked a convoy conveying staff of the US consulate, officers of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, and some civilians.

The incident happened along Atani-Osamela road in Ogbaru LGA of Anambra State.

The convoy was taking the staff and the officers to a US-funded flood project in the state.

According to Echeng, five officials of the US consulate and four armed police officers wee involved in the attack.

The commissioner said men of the police force in conjunction with troops of the Nigerian army raided a camp in Ugwuaneocha community of Ogbaru LGA, which is suspected to be the hideout of the attackers.

He, however, noted that the security personnel met no one at the camp.
