During a clash between rival cult groups in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, two individuals suspected to be cult members were reportedly killed on Friday.
The incident occurred around 11 AM near Ukwuoji Bus Stop along Zik’s Avenue.

Although the exact motive behind the attack remains unclear, it is believed that the cultists entered the area and initiated gunfire, asserting their dominance. An eyewitness stated that approximately five hoodlums arrived in a vehicle with tinted glass, firing shots into the air. Consequently, they fatally shot their targets and swiftly fled the scene.

When approached for comment, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the State Police Public Relations Officer, acknowledged the sound of gunshots in the vicinity but did not confirm the reported killings. He stated that the police have intensified patrols in Awka in response to the gunfire at Ukwuoji Bus Stop.
