The South African Police Services (SAP) anti-kidnapping task team has rescued a kidnapped Nigerian businessman.
The 48-year-old man was kidnapped on Wednesday, 10 January 2024 in Fordsburg, Johannesburg.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, who confirmed the development in a statement said the victim was rescued on Thursday evening, January 11.
“In less than 24 hours, the SAPS team traced the victim and suspects to a lodge in Ferndale, Randburg on Thursday evening,” the statement read.

“Six vehicles used by the suspects have been seized and impounded for further investigation. Money that was allegedly withdrawn from the businessman’s bank account has also been recovered.
“In the last two years, the anti-kidnapping task team has arrested at least 300 suspects where victims were kidnapped for ransom payments.”
