‘Rinse and Repeat’ –  Deji Adeyanju Advises ASUU On Appeal Court Ruling

A social activist, Deji Adeyanju, has asked the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to adopt a rinse-and-repeat strategy as a response to the Appeal Court judgment that ordered the union to call off its strike.

Adeyanju in a post on social media on Saturday asked ASUU to suspend the ongoing seven-month-old strike in obedience to the ruling.

He, however, urged the union to declare a fresh strike immediately after suspending the ongoing one.

He said the justification for a new strike would be that the country’s ivory towers could not function without adequate funding.

He advised the university to continue the cycle until universities are properly funded, asking ASUU not to appeal the judgment.

Adeyanju said, “ASUU should call off the strike then go on another one immediately thereafter. And the justification for a fresh strike will be simply: there’s practically no way our universities can operate without proper funding.

“Rinse and repeat until our tertiary institutions are properly funded. Do not appeal the AC judgment; learn to read the room,” he said on his social media handle.
