Nigeria’s VP, Pays Last Respect to Queen Elizabeth II

The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, paid his last respect to the late Queen Elizabeth II of England on Tuesday, September 19th, 2022.

In an interview with the press, he stated that it is a historic event and one which is unlikely to happen again, perhaps in another lifetime.

He further said that the Queen’s well-spent life drew leaders from all around the globe.

In his words, “the gathering of leaders from everywhere, the goodwill and the good wishes from practically everywhere in the world is a testament to the sort of person the queen was. In life and death, she brought people together perhaps even more in her death.”

Speaking of his view of the burial ceremony, he emphasised that he was pleased by the royal family’s support.

He said, “For Nigeria and for the commonwealth, this has been very enabling, very strengthening and I’m sure that the King, King Charles himself felt not just the honour of many people coming by but also the reassurance that there is a brotherhood across the world and that the commonwealth remains strong.”

Above all, Osibanjo wishes King Charles III a successful reign as the monarch of England.

He added, “We are all anxious that he succeeds and that he perhaps does even better than his mother. We are all looking forward to a wonderful reign, a reign that would bring posterity, and peace not just to England and to commonwealth but to all of us.”
