Nigeria’s U-18 women’s handball team have secured their spot in the 2024 IHF Women’s Youth World Championship by defeating Morocco with a score of 28-14 during the quarter-finals of the Africa Women’s Youth Handball Championship held in Monastir, Tunisia.

In the first half, the Nigerian team showcased their dominance, leading with a comfortable score of 17-5 by halftime. Despite the Moroccans’ efforts to narrow the gap in the second half, Nigeria, under the guidance of coach Shittu Agboola, continued to outscore their opponents, ultimately winning the match 28-14.

Chidera Ogwumsimba was recognized as the MVP of the match.This victory not only secures Nigeria’s place in the semi-finals of the competition but also marks their first-ever qualification for the IHF Women’s Youth World Championship, which is scheduled to take place in China next year.
Additionally, the team is set to participate in the IHF Women Trophy Intercontinental Phase later this year. Their next challenge will be facing Egypt in the semi-finals on Friday.
