N55m Benz Stolen By Abuja Big Boy Recovered In Delta

After a week-long search, the Nigerian Police Force has successfully recovered a stolen Mercedes Benz GLB 250 worth N55 million in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The vehicle was taken by a customer who disappeared after test-driving it in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The owner of the vehicle, Mohammed Manga, confirmed the recovery and stated that the suspect, identified as Henry, was still at large. The car is currently in the possession of the Commissioner of Police in Asaba, who, along with his team, facilitated the retrieval. They are actively pursuing the suspect.

During a press briefing, Delta State’s Commissioner of Police, Wale Abbas, provided details of the case, stating that the car dealer in Abuja reported the theft on July 3, 2023. The suspect had posed as a potential buyer and made off with the vehicle during a test drive in Abuja on June 30, 2023.

Based on valuable intelligence, operatives from the CP-Decoy Squad conducted an operation in Ughelli town, recovering the stolen Mercedes Benz SUV around 1:15 am on July 3, 2023. The vehicle was found abandoned in a bush along Oteri road, near Doctors Quarters in Ughelli North LGA. The police are actively engaged in an extensive manhunt for the fleeing suspect.

It was previously reported that Henry had test-driven the vehicle in the Garki area of the FCT before absconding with it. Prior to the test drive, Henry approached Manga’s friend and expressed interest in purchasing the car. After agreeing on the N55 million price, Henry, accompanied by Manga’s friend, stopped at a filling station to refuel during the test drive. While Manga’s friend briefly left the car to withdraw cash, Henry took advantage of the situation and swiftly drove off with the vehicle.

Unable to locate Henry, the case was reported to the Anti-Car Theft Unit of the FCT Police Command.
