MC Oluomo Introduces Bar Codes in Lagos Parks To Curb Kidnapping

MC Oluomo

The chairman of Lagos State Parks and Garages Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has introduced the use of bar codes to curb kidnapping and improve safety of commuters.

In a statement on Friday, MC Oluomo, said the bar code system will improve the safety of commuters and discourage kidnapping.

“The transport management in Lagos will not put the lives of Lagosians in jeopardy. The incidence of kidnapping is rampant in some parts of the country and it is the proactiveness of the stakeholders in the transport sector of Lagos that birthed the bar code introduction.

“The chairmen of each park and garage whose drivers are caught putting the lives and properties of Lagosians at risk will be severely dealt with,” he said.

Speaking about how the bar code works, a member of the committee, Olayiwola Lemboye, said that on the app, each vehicle will have a unique bar code that people would be expected to scan before boarding, adding that upon scanning, one can confirm its safety before boarding.

“Once you scan the bar code on any bus, it will bring out certain information about the park or garage for commuters to determine if the bus is safe for boarding or not.

“For those who usually forget their ‘loads’ in the bus, the code will help passengers recollect the vehicle’s number plate and trace it to the park or garage such the vehicle operates from,” Lemboye said.

An official of Dotmatech Technology Ltd, Isaiah Arowolo also said over 20,000 vehicles have already been captured.
