Seyi Awolowo, a former Big Brother Naija contestant and grandson of the late Nigerian nationalist leader Obafemi Awolowo, has publicly mused about entering politics.
Speaking on Channels TV’s “The Morning Brief,” Awolowo admitted that while not initially his aim, the current state of Nigeria might prompt him to pursue a political career. His desire to ensure a better future for his family within the country motivates this potential shift.
As the 20th grandchild of Awolowo, Seyi has faced societal expectations from a young age, often being compared to his renowned grandfather. He describes being told to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and embrace intellectual pursuits, a pressure he has experienced throughout his life.
Awolowo’s aspirations for his family and himself center around experiencing Nigeria to its fullest. He wishes for his children to enjoy the freedom to travel within the country, interact with different cultures, and live as proud Nigerians without external limitations.
