Gunmen Murder PDP Ward Chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has been plunged into mourning following the untimely death of Smith Chiedoziem Anyanwu, the ward chairman for Ife/Akpodim/Chokoneze Ward in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area.

The party’s Director of New Media, Lancelot Obiaku, confirmed the incident, but refrained from providing further details surrounding the circumstances. According to eyewitnesses, the tragic incident unfolded last Thursday when Anyanwu was gunned down in the presence of his wife.

The assailants, said to be two in number, arrived on a motorbike, inquired about Anyanwu’s whereabouts, and upon identifying him, mercilessly shot him multiple times.The heinous act has sent shockwaves through the PDP family and the community at large. Adding to the party’s recent defeat in the November 11, 2023 governorship election, Anyanwu’s murder has cast a pall of despair over the party faithful.
