Gov. Soludo’s Wife Inducts Over 200 Teachers Into Her Healthy Living School Club

Mrs Nonye Soludo, wife of Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo has inducted more than 200 teachers across the state into her school club, “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo”. 

The induction which took place in Awka, the state capital,  on Tuesday, marked the takeoff of the ‘introduction of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo’ as a viable club in several secondary schools across the State.

The programme, a brainchild of Mrs Soludo, featured the induction of over 200 secondary school teachers selected from the six educational zones in the state. 

Speaking on the essence of the club, Mrs Soludo who spoke virtually said the club which is a product of deep passion aims to establish Healthy Living Clubs in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the state, and provide a platform for education and exposure of school children, teenagers and youths to the tenets of healthy living and how to imbibe them in their daily routine. 

She charged the teachers to discharge their duty with utmost sense of responsibility. 

She said, “You have been selected for this noble task because you bear a mark of hard work. Now is the time to go even further.

“Our target is one and simple: Success. A large chunk of it lies with you. You must carry that in your hearts and minds as we march to making this unique brand a household philosophy. Living right does not cost a fortune. It is all about simple and deliberate habits that define one’s approach to a healthy life. It begins with what you eat and how you take care of your body. I prefer to use the slogan: “You are what you eat.

“The bottom line is that if you do not understand what goes into your mouth, your body will not. Healthy living is a very conscious practice. To live healthy is to live happy. Therefore, our central focus is to guide the students on the routines for healthy and happy life. 

“We want to build an army of healthy living enthusiasts. Every student in Anambra State must be fully involved in this movement.”

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, and his colleague in the Youth Development Ministry, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, lauded the initiative of the governor’s wife as timely and important to build a culture of healthy lifestyle among ndi Anambra. 

The state coordinator, school health club and state coordinator Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo, Mrs. Ezinwanne Otti, said the club focuses on five pertinent goals which include – nutrition, sex education and reproductive health, mental health and physical fitness, emergency basic life support services, and substance abuse. She urged the teachers and students to discharge their duties with a sense of pride and commitment in order to meet the targets of the club.

Participants took a walk on war against drug abuse to wrap up the event.
