Ebonyi State governor, Francis Nwifuru, has announced the appointment of Grace Umezurike as the secretary to the state government (SSG).
This was contained in a statement issued by Monday Uzor, chief press secretary to the governor on Friday.

Umezurike, a senior lecturer at Ebonyi State University, has become the first female to be become the SSG in the state.
Prior to her appointment, she worked as a professor of socio-political philosophy at the university, situated in Abakaliki, the state capital.

Umezurike is from Uburu in Ohaozara LGA of the state.
The statement read, “The governor of Ebonyi state, his excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has approved the appointment of Prof. Grace Umezurike as secretary to Ebonyi state government.
“She will be sworn in on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at the executive council chambers of the government house, Abakaliki, Ebonyi state.”
