Anambra Police Recovers Stolen Cement Truck, CP Declares Manhunt For Hijacker

Anambra State Police have successfully located a stolen cement truck and the Commissioner of Police has issued orders to conduct a manhunt for the hijackers.

The truck, carrying approximately 1,000 bags of Bua cement, was reported stolen at gunpoint by unidentified individuals in Obiliokite, Delta State on Friday. However, it has now been recovered in the Okija community of Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State. The HOWO trailer, registered in Delta State as AKU 247 XB, was found by police officers from the Area Command headquarters in Ihiala, in collaboration with Anambra State Vigilante operatives in Okija.

In a statement on Sunday night, the Anambra State Police spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the development. According to Ikenga, when the armed criminals spotted the joint patrol teams along the Onitsha-Owerri Expressway, they quickly abandoned the truck and fled upon reaching Okija.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has responded by issuing orders for a manhunt to be conducted in order to apprehend the gunmen. He called on local residents to provide any useful information that could aid in the arrest of the fleeing suspects. The CP assured the public that any information shared would be treated with the utmost confidentiality. Individuals with relevant information on criminals or criminal activities were encouraged to contact the Control Room number 07039194332.

Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police has authorized the release of the recovered cement consignment to its rightful owner.
