Agony As Tragic Accidents Claim Lives In Oyo State

An unfortunate series of accidents in Oyo State has resulted in the loss of seven lives, including an Okada rider, and left several others injured. One incident occurred on the Ogbomoso-Odo-Oba Road in Sekona, within the Ogo Oluwa Local Government Area, while the other took place on the Gbede section of the Ogbomoso-Ilorin Road in the Surulere Local Government Area.

The first accident involved a collision between a commercial bus and a trailer, claiming the lives of six individuals, all of whom were male. The victims’ bodies have been transported to the mortuary at Ladoke Akintola Teaching Hospital, while the injured have been admitted to Bowen University Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso for necessary medical treatment. Eyewitnesses reported that the bus, carrying 21 passengers and heading to a northern state in Nigeria, attempted to overtake the trailer but lost control, resulting in a devastating crash. The bus veered off the road, somersaulting multiple times. Immediate assistance was provided by road safety officials who swiftly transported the injured to the hospital. The incident occurred on Sunday evening.

In a separate incident on Monday morning, an Okada rider tragically lost his life after colliding with a stationary vehicle at the Gbede area of the Ogbomoso-Ilorin Road.

Confirming the events, Isaac Adebayo, the Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogbomoso, stated that the first crash occurred around 5 pm on Sunday. The authorities are conducting investigations to ascertain the precise causes of both accidents.
