13 Passengers Burnt To Death In Enugu Bus Crash

At least 13 passengers were burnt beyond recognition in a road accident that occurred close to the Four-Corners Enugu in the late hours of Sunday.

At least 13 passengers were burnt beyond recognition in a road accident that occurred close to the Four-Corners Enugu in the late hours of Sunday.

The accident happened when a 14-seater bus which was travelling from Imo State to Adamawa, ran into a trainer before catching fire.

All the passengers except one were burnt beyond recognition in the road mishap which took place at the Enugu axis of the Enugu/Port Harcourt expressway.  

Reports say only one passenger survived the accident, with different accounts of how he escaped. While one version has it that he was rescued by sympathizers, another said he escaped through the window.

The sole survivor is receiving treatment at the Emergency Unit of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH, Ituku-Ozalla.
