‘There’s absolutely no excuse for this’ – Salah Bemoans Liverpool’s UCL Miss

Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah, has lamented the red’s failure to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Liverpool’s chances of finishing in the top four was dashed after Manchester United beat Chelsea 4-1 in Thursday’s Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

The win elevated United to third position, six points ahead of Liverpool with one match left to conclude the season.

United were put ahead through a Casemiro goal which was doubled by Anthony Martial to put them 2-0 up in the first half. Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford added their names in the scoresheet in the second half in the second half.

Chelsea got a consolation goal through substitute Joao Felix late in the game.

Reacting to Chelsea’s loss to United, Salah said there is no excuse for Liverpool not qualifying for the Champions League.

He said, “I’m totally devastated. There’s absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and we failed.

“We are Liverpool and qualifying to the competition is the bare minimum. I am sorry but it’s too soon for an uplifting or optimistic post. We let you and ourselves down.“

Liverpool will play their last game of the season against relegation-bound Southampton while United will host Fulham at Old Trafford.
