INEC Commence The Collection Of PVC For Off-Cycle Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) collection starting on September 11, 2023, for off-cycle governorship elections in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo states.

This decision aligns with the Electoral Act, which mandates the publication of the final candidate list 150 days before the election.The final list includes 18 political parties in Kogi, 17 in Imo, and 16 in Bayelsa. The PVC collection is intended for registered voters who couldn’t collect their cards before the suspension of the exercise on February 5, 2023, prior to the last general election.

Collection centers, including other designated locations with uncollected PVCs, will be shared by the Resident Electoral Commissioners in the three states. The collection period will run from September 11 to October 9, 2023, on weekdays (Monday to Friday) between 9.00 am and 3.00 pm.

Additionally, two Resident Electoral Commissioners have been redeployed: Mr. Obo Effanga to Bayelsa State for the upcoming off-cycle governorship election, and Professor Ayobami Salami to Lagos from Ekiti State. The Commission urges political parties and candidates to maintain peaceful conduct during their campaigns and avoid actions that may disrupt the peace.
