Following the tragic explosion in Ibadan, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has attributed the incident to the activities of illegal miners occupying a building in the Bodija area.
The explosion on January 16th caused widespread panic and damage in the Bodija axis of Ibadan. Governor Makinde visited the site and spoke to journalists to provide updates.
Initial investigations reveal that illegally stored explosive devices by miners within the building led to the blast. At least 77 people were injured, most treated and discharged. Sadly, two fatalities were confirmed.

Medical bills for all victims will be covered by the government.Temporary accommodation will be provided for those whose houses were affected. A full investigation is underway to hold those responsible accountable. Residents are urged to remain calm, stay away from the affected area, and call 615 for any emergencies.
