D’Tigers continue to shine in their ongoing friendly tournament in China, delivering an impressive performance by defeating the highly-ranked Serbian team with a convincing score of 81-53.
This victory follows their earlier remarkable 75-70 win over Team USA in their first game in China. D’Tigers embarked on this playing tour of games in China, which began last week and will conclude on October 20.
While they didn’t secure a slot for the Paris 2024 Olympics during the qualifiers held in Lagos in August, the team is actively participating in various developmental programs initiated by the Nigeria Basketball Federation board led by Musa Ahmadu-Kida.

The China Autumn Tour, an all-expenses-paid tournament organized in China, serves as a morale booster for players from both the local league and international leagues.
This comes after Nigeria’s withdrawal from international basketball competitions for a two-year period, initiated by the sports ministry with the approval of former President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2022. The withdrawal was in response to the ongoing leadership disputes within the Nigeria Basketball Federation and players’ calls for improved welfare and treatment.
