The State House of Assembly on Friday announced the commissioner-nominees for Osun State, including Festus Adeyemo, Chief of Staff to former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and two former commissioners from ex-governor Rauf Aregbesola’s cabinet.
Governor Ademola Adeleke sent a letter containing the names, which were read by Speaker Adewale Egbedun during the plenary session.
The two former commissioners from Aregbesola’s cabinet on the list are Kolapo Alimi, who previously served as the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Mr. Biyi Odunlade, who held the positions of Special Adviser and later commissioner for Sports.
Festus Adeyemo, hailing from Irewole Local Government Area, served as Chief of Staff to Oyinlola towards the end of his administration, taking over from Dr. Peter Babalola, who left the cabinet to pursue a governorship ambition that year.
Another notable nominee is Mrs. Folashade Adeleke, the widow of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who was the elder brother of the current governor.

The remaining nominees include Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, formerly the governor’s Personal Assistant, Oladosu Babatunde, the former chairman of Atakumosa West local government, as well as Bayo Ogungbangbe, Sesan Oyedele, Soji Ajeigbe, Moshood Olagunju, George Alabi, Sunday Oroniyi, Abiodun Ojo, Dr. Basiru Salami, Morufu Ayofe, and Sola Ogungbile.
To ensure a thorough screening and confirmation process, the House of Assembly has established an Ad-Hoc Committee responsible for conducting the preliminary screening of the nominees. Following this step, the nominees will appear before the House for full screening and confirmation. The entire process is expected to be completed promptly, as stated by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Olamide Tiamiyu.
