Lagos Govt To Probe Nurses For Filming Rico Swavey’s Last Moments

Members of the public have reacted to the 30-second video that pictured the last moments of former Big Brother Naija star, Patrick Fakoya, popularly known as Rico Swavey, at a Lagos hospital.

The former reality TV star was pictured on oxygen, unconscious on a chair while nurses stood around him with one of the nurses recording with her phone.

Another nurse was heard asking her colleagues for help to carry the deceased.

The nurse said, “Come let’s carry him.

Another voice was heard saying “You people should stop making the video; somebody is dying, you people are making video.”

Nigerians have condemned the action of the nurses.

Samuel Atigba, a marketing strategist reacting to the video through his Twitter handle, @SamuelOtigba said, “Anytime I watch that video of the nurses joking, laughing and making needless videos of Rico for social media instead of giving him the necessary urgent attention needed to save his life, my heart breaks over again cause he could have survived. RIP Rico.”

Rico Swavey was reportedly involved in an auto crash on Tuesday. Video clips of the aftermath of the crash were shared on Twitter. He was pictured unconscious with blood coming out from his nose.

However, he passed on Thursday due to injuries sustained during the crash.

Reacting to the video, Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, said the state government had begun an investigation into the development.

He said, “That hospital is not a government hospital; we have started an investigation into the unprofessional conduct of those who appeared in that video.”
