World Cup 2022: Mexican Boxing Champion Threatens Messi

Canelo Alvarez, Mexican boxing superstar has threatened Lionel Messi after the Argentina forward scored in his side’s 2-0 win against Mexico at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar on Saturday.

Messi opened the scoring against El Tri with a low strike and assisted the second goal as Argentina reignited their group-stage progression ambition.

Argentina defender, Nicolas Otamendi, in a clip posted after the match pictured Messi leading the nation’s celebrations in the dressing room.

The clip showed Messi with a Mexico shirt on the floor and the PSG star seemed to brush the shirt off his foot as he sat down.

Reacting to the video, undisputed super-middleweight champion Alvarez, faulted Messi and called him out on Twitter.

Alvarez tweeted, “Did you guys see Messi cleaning the floor with our jersey and flag.

“He better pray to God that I don’t find him.

“Just like I respect Argentina, he has to respect Mexico!

“I’m not talking about the country as a whole, just about the bulls*** that Messi did.”

Meanwhile, Messi’s former Argentina teammate Sergio Aguero has reacted to Alvarez’s threat.

Aguero in his response tweeted, “Mr. Canelo, don’t look for excuses or problems, surely you don’t know about soccer and what happens in a locker room.

“The shirts are always on the floor after the games are over due to sweat and then if you see well, he makes the movement to remove the boot and accidentally hits it.”
