Physically Challenged Woman In Anambra Cries Over Her Burnt Shop

A physically challenged woman identified as Amobichukwu Amara has lamented over her shop, which was burnt to ashes in Nnewi town, Anambra State.

The popular shop named Lady Whyte Event Planner and Kitchen located at Umudim-Nnewi got burnt at about 2.00 am on Tuesday.

Only Amara’s shop was burnt out of about 10 shops in the same location.

No one could tell exactly how the shop caught fire, but some people attributed it to a power surge.

It was gathered that the fire which started at midnight destroyed her shop including articles such as kitchen utensils, plastic tables and chairs, a deep freezer, a power-generating set, and one hundred and fifty crates of drinks and sundry items.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Amar lamented that all her investment in the shop since she began business there in 2019 has gone down to nothing.

She said, “I don’t know what I have done to deserve this, there are about 10 shops in this location, yet it is only my own that the night marauders singled out to burn.

“Whoever did this has finished me. I have been struggling to prove that there is ability in disability, that is why I am not begging for alms to feed, rather I employed a few people to help me with my business.

“The idea of whether the fire was caused by a power surge should perish because I use a power generating set, I don’t use electricity, I believe certain persons have just decided to punish me for only what God knows,” Amara explained.

However, the 35-year-old physically-challenged woman, said that she was not suspecting anyone because she has never had issues with anybody.

“What can I do, I have been pushed to my wit’s end by perpetrators of this dastardly act, I can only hope and pray that affluent people in the society will rise to my assistance,” Amara said.

She further sought the assistance of the public in Nnewi and Nigeria at large, saying that she has nothing left.
