Officers of the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State have nabbed a 49-year-old man, identified as Ganiyu Shina, for allegedly bathing with blood at a community river in Kotopo, Odeda Local Government Area of the State.
Police arrested the suspect on Thursday at 4, Oguji Street, Obantoko, Abeokuta.
This was confirmed by SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement issued on Thursday.

According to Oyeyemi, the suspect was nabbed when community members saw him at the river where he parked his Nissan commercial vehicle, came out with a local sponge and a container that contains blood, and began bathing with it.

He said, “Immediately he discovered that some people were watching him, he took to his heels, but was chased and apprehended by members of the community.
“A call was made to the police at the Aregbe divisional headquarters by a member of the community, and the DPO, SP Bunmi Asogbon, quickly led a patrol team to the scene, from where the suspect was brought to the station.
“On interrogation, the suspect claimed to have a spiritual problem, and that a herbalist instructed him to perform the ritual.
“He claimed further that the blood in his possession was not human blood, but that of a cow.”
Oyeyemi added that the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered a laboratory analysis of the remaining blood to determine if it was that of a human or otherwise.
