Chief Ifeanyi Uchendu, the Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, has been defeated in the Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency election.
Uchendu was beaten by the Labour Party, LP, candidate, Ibe Okwara-Osonwa, who was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The LP candidate scored a total of 8,946 votes to clinch the position ahead of his closes opponent and All Progressives Congress candidate, Chief Dan Okeke, who polled 6,635 votes.

Mr. John Osuji, the returning officer for the election, declared Uchendu the winner of the election.
Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Okuji Oreh, polled 5,211, while Uchendu, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, got 2,763 votes.
