FA Cup: ‘Iheanacho Performed With Fire In His Belly’ – Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers, Leicester City coach, has lauded Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho for his impressive performance in his team’s Fourth Round win against Walsall in the FA Cup.

The English Premier League side beat League 2 team, Walsall 1-0 on Saturday at the Bescot Stadium.

Iheanacho bagged the sole goal of the match in the 68th minute after he was brought on to replace Patson Daka in the 53rd minute.

Rodgers praised Iheanacho’s efforts during the encounter.

He was quoted by Independent to have said, “He came into the game with a real fire in his belly to perform and did really well.

“For a large part of my time here Vardy has been our number one striker, we brought Patson (Daka) in who could replicate that and Kelechi is a fantastic link player for us.

“We always have a strong team out and Walsall today, give them credit. Michael[Flynn] has done an excellent job since coming in here.

“I thought we were good in the second half, the method to our game was better. We adapted a couple of things at halftime and started to threaten a bit more.”

Iheanacho has scored three goals and assisted one goal in 20 games for Leicester City this season.

The Nigerian also has an impressive FA Cup record with 17 goals in 23 matches.
