President Muhammadu Buhari has honoured Daniel Itse Amah, a police officer who rejected $200,000 bribe from a robber at the 2022 public service integrity award.
The officer was reportedly said to have led the operation that resulted in the arrest of Ali Zaki, a suspected robber involved in the theft of N320,500,000 in Kano state.
In an attempt to cover up the crime, Zaki reportedly offered to bribe Amah which he rejected. Amah is currently the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Nasarawa Division in Kano.
However, the award on Amah was informed by a recommendation from the chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Bolaji Owasanoye to the president.
This recommendation was contained in a letter dated September 13, 2022.

At an event in Abuja on Tuesday, Buhari encouraged Nigerians in public offices to collectively fight to kill corruption for a better Nigeria.
“We need to kill corruption for Nigeria to move forward,” the president said.
Similarly, the spokesman of the Kano command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, described Amah’s work ethic as “outstanding”.
