Atiku Told Me Ayu Must Go, Wike Rejects Jibrin’s Resignation

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, insists that Iyorchia Ayu must resign from his position as the People’s Democratic Party chairman.

When Atiku Abubakar won the PDP presidential primary in May, Wike said that Atiku personally informed him that Ayu would have to resign as the party’s chairman.
The governor insisted that his call for Ayu’s dismissal would continue notwithstanding Walid Jibril’s resignation as head of the Board of Trustees.

The issue at stake, according to Wike, is one of justice and fairness. He claims that since the north delivered the party’s presidential candidate, it is unfair for it to continue to hold the party chairmanship.

“This fight we will fight it to the end,” the governor spoke when he commissioned the Ahoada Campus of the Rivers State University in the Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state.

Wike attended the event with his ally, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.
