10 Lawyers File Suit To Stop Obi 2023 Mega Rally

Ten lawyers have filed a law to stop the supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, from holding a mega rally tagged “#Obidatti23 Forward Ever Rally” in Lagos state on October 1.

The lawyers who filed the suit are Adedotun Ajulo Esq., Salamatu Suleiman Lewi Esq., Hakeem Ijaduola, Esq., Ogunbona Akinpelu Esq., Owolabi K. Oluwasegun, Esq., Mogbojuri Kayode Esq., Wuyep Mantim Nadom Esq., Dimimu Mabel, Esq., Kolawole Salami, Esq. and Wale Abe Lawrence, Esq.

They specifically asked the court to restrain the Labour Party, its presidential candidate Peter Obi, his vice; Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, one Julius Abure, and their loyalists from holding the rally, until the hearing and determination of their motion-on-notice of September 12.

In their argument, the plaintiffs said the rally could cause a breakdown of law and order in the state, similar to what happened during the #EndSARS in 2020 where lives and properties were lost.

They also urged the court to restrain Obi and his party, as well as their loyalists, from further planning and promoting the rally.

They further sought an injunction to prevent the rally from going ahead as well as the organisers from using the Lekki toll plaza or any other space within Lagos state.

The judge, however, directed the plaintiffs to put the other parties on notice.

He then adjourned the hearing of the substantive suit till September 23.
